Along with the newly introduced replica Navitimer Automatic 41 and replica Navitimer GMT 41 models, Breitling is launching the Navitimer B12 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Limited Edition. This automatic timepiece is a tribute to the legendary Cosmonaute model, a 24-hour version of the Navitimer that became the first Swiss wristwatch worn in space.
In 1962, astronaut Scott Carpenter wore the Navitimer Cosmonaute during his Mercury-Atlas 7 mission aboard the Aurora 7 capsule, orbiting the Earth three times.
Carpenter specifically requested this replica Breitling watch, a modification of the famous aviator’s watch, featuring a 24-hour dial to differentiate between day and night in space’s darkness.
To celebrate Breitling’s 140th anniversary, this limited edition of 250 pieces features the self-winding Breitling manufacture caliber B12, in contrast to the hand-wound Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute released in 2022.
Operating at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), this chronograph movement with a 24-hour display has a 70-hour power reserve and is certified by COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).
Encased in a 41 mm x 13.6 mm 18k red gold case, the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters / 100 feet.
The characteristic bidirectional notched bezel with a circular slide rule surrounds a deep green dial with black sub-dials and gold numerals. The cambered sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides.
The transparent sapphire crystal caseback displays the contrasting oscillating weight on the B12 movement. An engraving on the caseback indicates the “One of 250” limitation and provides further details.
